A macro is a placeholder in curly braces. Put it in your landing page URL and TrafficOX replaces it with a real value each time a visitor clicks through. Use macros to pass data to your tracker or landing page.
https://example.com/offer?click_id={visitor_id}&country={country_code}&cost={cost}
In the buy order and Media Library forms, click a macro in the macros panel to insert it at the cursor. Help opens the full list.
Available macros
| Macro | Value |
|---|---|
{visitor_id} | The visit's unique ID. Pass it to your tracker to track conversions |
{cost} | Your price for this traffic, in USD. Popunder and Skim orders get the price of one impression (your CPM ÷ 1,000); sticker orders get the CPM itself |
{country_code} | The visitor's country code |
{platform} | The visitor's platform |
{website_type} | The type of site the visitor came from |
{categories} | The categories of the site the visitor came from |
{referer_domain} | The domain of the page the visitor came from |
{referer_url} | The full URL of the page the visitor came from |
{domain_id_numeric} | The numeric ID of the source site |
{buy_order_id} | The ID of your buy order |
{thumb} | The preview thumbnail of the page. Filled only when Only traffic with preview thumbnail is on |
The two most used are {visitor_id} and {domain_id_numeric}: the first ties
conversions to visits, the second tells you which source sent them, so you can
bid by source or block it.
Tips
- Write macros exactly as shown, in lower case and in curly braces.
{referer_domain}and{referer_url}are empty for visits that arrive without a referrer.
